Grant ApplicationsHollingsworth Special Events Grant (Guidelines)
1. Teacher/Tutor applying for a grant on behalf of a program must be a current active member of WVAEA, Inc. 2. Program must be a current Grantee of the WV Department of Education Office of Technical Education and Governor’s Economic Initiatives or an affiliate of Literacy West Virginia. 3. Program must agree to use the WVAEA, Inc. logo on promotional materials and displays for this event. 4. Program must agree to submit an article to be posted to the WVAEA, Inc. website regarding this event and its outcomes. 5. The public relations committee will review all applications and, if approved, the program will be sent a check up to the amount of $500. (Some grants may be less than that based upon the findings of the committee.) 6. Grants may be used for county/state fairs, Open House, public speaking engagement, meet-the-teacher night, recognition/graduation ceremony -program must provide a completed expenditure report, along with copies of receipts within three months of approval date, with exception of special circumstances. The program is eligible for no more than two grants total per year in the combined categories of AE/Literacy Program Special Event Grant and AE/Literacy Program Supplement Grant. AE/Literacy Program Supplement Grant (Guidelines)
1. Teacher/Tutor applying for a grant on behalf of a program must be a current active member of WVAEA, Inc. 2. Program must be a current Grantee of the WV Department of Education Office of Technical Education and Governor’s Economic Initiatives or an affiliate of Literacy West Virginia. 3. Program must agree to place a label on textbooks, equipment, and all non-consumable materials/supplies that credits WVAEA, Inc. for providing these funds. 4. The public relations committee will review all applications and, if approved, theprogram will be sent a check up to the amount of $500. (Some grants may be less than that based upon the findings of the committee.) 5. The program must provide a completed expenditure report, along with copies of receipts within three months of approval date, with exception of special circumstances. The program is eligible for no more than two grants total per year in the combined categories of AE/Literacy Program Special Event Grant and AE/Literacy Program Supplement Grant AE/Literacy Teacher/Tutor Professional Development Registration/Tuition Reimbursement Grant (Guidelines)
1. Teacher/Tutor must be a current active member of WVAEA, Inc. (If you are not sure, check the membership list.)
2. Teacher/Tutor must be employed by or volunteering with a program that is a current Grantee of the WV Department of Education Office of Technical Education and Governor’s Economic Initiatives or an affiliate of Literacy West Virginia. 3. If the reimbursement is for attending a conference, attendee must agree to submit an article regarding this event and its outcomes. This article will be posted to the WVAEA, Inc. website. 4. Teacher/Tutor may not have received more than one reimbursement grant during the current fiscal/program year. 5. Teacher/Tutor must attach receipts for the registration or tuition costs. 6. The public relations committee will review all applications and, if approved, the teacher/tutor will be sent a check up to the amount of $250. (Some grants may be less than that based upon the findings of the committee. AE/Literacy Student Support Grant (Guidelines)
1. Teacher/Tutor must be a current active member of WVAEA, Inc.
2. Applicant must be a resident of West Virginia and currently enrolled in an Adult Education or literacy program within West Virginia. 3. Applicant must maintain at least 85% attendance record. 4. Applicant must truthfully complete the Student’s Support Grant Application. 5. The completed application must be accompanied by a Teacher/Tutor’s Recommendation Letter. 6. The Student Grant Committee will review the application form and the recommendation letter. 7. If approved, the instructor/tutor will be sent a check up to the amount of $250. (Some grants may be less than that based upon the findings of the committee.) 8. Monies will be disbursed to the student at the discretion of the instructor/tutor. 9. Grants may be used for expenses such as travel to and from school, clothing, child-care, food, etc Higher Education Student Support Grant (Guidelines)
1. Teacher/Tutor must be a current active member of WVAEA, Inc.
2. Applicant must be a resident of West Virginia and enrolled in a college, university, or vocational school for the current or upcoming semester. 3. Applicant must be enrolled in or have completed an Adult Education/Literacy program in the past. 4. Applicant must truthfully complete the Higher Education Student Support Grant Application. 5. The completed application must be accompanied by a Teacher/Tutor’s Recommendation Letter. 6. Applicant must submit a receipt of payment for tuition (on school letterhead) for the current or upcoming semester. (This is to verify that the student is enrolled.) 7. After the student grant committee has reviewed and approved the application, the scholarship recipient will be sent a check up to the amount of $250. (Some grants may be less than that based upon committee findings.) 8. Grants may be used for expenses such as travel to and from school, textbooks, clothing, child-care, food, etc. |
